Hello Neighbors,
We hope you and your families are healthy, safe, and enjoying these last weeks of summer. As you all know, the
last several weeks (our first as a new Board of Directors) have been quite eventful, with arguably every possible
type of issue presenting itself at once. However, each of these challenges also presented an opportunity to reflect
on the way we do things, and the Board’s unanimous agreement about the appropriate course of action in each
situation has helped reinforce our collective mission of making The Glen a place where everyone feels safe,
welcome, and optimistic about the future of our community.
With this mission in mind, we would like to announce several changes that will help us streamline and improve
operations:
• Beginning on September 1st, we have contracted with FirstService Residential to take over as our new
property manager. FirstService (www.fsresidential.com) is a leader in their industry with decades of
experience and unparalleled resources, and we are confident that they are the right partner to help us
improve every aspect of our business and our experience as members of this community. From improved
technology to simplification of processes and enhanced service, there is much to look forward to. Plus, we
will do all these things while actually saving money, which is never a bad thing!
• In conjunction with the above, we have provided notice to NEPA Management of the termination of our
fiscal management agreement with them. After a period of transition, FirstService will assume
responsibility for managing our receipts, collections, disbursements, financial reporting, and other related
services. This change will help enhance operating efficiency and greatly improve the financial
management tools available to both homeowners and the board of directors.
• Finally, as part of the above changes, we are also terminating the agreement we have in place to provide
property management services to Eagle Point HOA, which stipulates, among other things, that The Glen is
responsible for the management and supervision of work done by Wilkins & Associates Property
Management (NEPA Management) on behalf of Eagle Point HOA. While this will result in the loss of
$18,000 in annual revenue, it will significantly reduce our risk of liability and greatly simplify our
operations, which will also undoubtedly lead to savings in the long term.
Of course, change is never easy, and it will take time, so we ask for your patience and understanding, but also for
your candid [and constructive, please!] feedback so that we can make sure the systems and processes we put in
place today work for everyone and stand the test of time.
There is, of course, much more we are working on, from holding all of our vendors accountable for their work to
resolving longstanding issues and addressing every homeowner’s concern….not to mention the technology
portion of our security enhancement project, which kicks off this week. There is just too much to provide a full
update, so we are looking forward to our first open community meeting with all of you this fall (Sept/Oct), where
we will provide a full update on all projects and take any and all questions or concerns you may have.
Finally, we would like to thank all those who have shared words of kindness, compassion, and support or offered
to assist over the past few weeks. We are, after all, a community and, in the words of Coretta Scott King, “The
greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members”.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a wonderful week!
Regards,
The Glen at Tamiment Board of Directors
