Dear Residents,

Please see below for a guide on what can and cannot be thrown away in the community compactor. Hopefully this will help with any questions you may have in regards to the garbage. Should you have something that is not on this list and are not sure of, please email or call the office. Thank you!!!

What is considered household garbage and what cannot be thrown away in the compactor?

It is generally considered the non-hazardous waste generated by a normal, non-commercial household. It can include items such as food, food waste, food contaminated containers and cartons, paper towels, tissues, kitchen wastes, old clothing/towels/ sheets that cannot be donated or repurposed and diapers.

However, it MUST NOT include the following items –

*Tires
*Furniture
*Mattresses
*Household cleaning chemicals, bleach, drain cleaner, waxes, polishes, and aerosol spray cans.
*Rugs, carpet, and carpet pads
*Floor tiles, linoleum, vinyl planks
*Paints, solvents, varnishes and adhesives
*Pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizer
*Motor oil, waste oil, gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel or petroleum grease
*Household appliances
*Anything containing freon like refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, and air conditioners.
*Helium, propane, and other gas cylinders and refillable tanks
*Televisions and radios
*Computers, laptops, monitors, printers, scanners, cell phones, I-Pads, fax machines, TV receivers and    all other electronic devices.
*Batteries of all types
*Industrial waste
*Construction materials and wastes
*Wastes generated during remodeling projects, including asbestos
*LED bulbs, compact fluorescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes
*Anti-Freeze, break fluid, and other automotive chemicals
*Mercury vapor light bulbs
*Prescription and non-prescription drugs
*Hypodermic syringes/needles
*Battery and line powered electric tools
*Gasoline engine powered tools equipment
*Yard wastes, including dirt
*Firearms and ammunition
*Swimming pool and photographic chemicals
*Thermostats, switches, and thermometers containing mercury.
